Away from the steep slopes, towards the most beautiful cross-country trails. Cross-country skiing is booming! Whether skating or classic style, whether beginner or competitive athlete, cross-country skiing is one of the most beautiful sports that winter offers us. Cross-country skiers in the Ötztal can look forward to a wide range of trails. During the day you can glide across the trails, enjoy the sunshine and the landscape, or in the evening you can do a few sporty laps on the illuminated night trails. From the mountain nest, you can quickly reach the most beautiful cross-country trails and live out your cross-country adventure to the full.

Climbing the steep mountains on foot is also an option for all friends of touring or snowshoeing. Here, too, there are a variety of snow-sure options.

Not to forget tobogganing or ice skating. Numerous prepared toboggan runs invite you to a different kind of snow fun. In Umhausen there is an ice skating rink, or you can do your laps at the nearby natural ice skating rink Piburger See, amidst a magnificent mountain and forest backdrop.

The region in winter

Active on and off the slopes

What makes a winter holiday special? Top ski resorts with deep snow slopes, cool side events and party nights, say some. Time for the family sledding, snowshoeing, ice skating and cross-country skiing, say others. And simply relax in between. In the Ötztal you can sometimes lose the overview.

Skiing is the national sport in Austria. A large part of the country lies in the Alps.
